The Crus

Novaia-2427

The farms’ vineyards are divided in three plots of land, each of which is at the origin of a Cru.

CRU “LE BALZE”

Wine appellation: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva
Surface: 1.5 ha
Farming system: guyot
Hectare plant density: 5000 p/ha
Soil: clay and limestone
Hectare production: 9,000 kg/ha
Exposition: South
Gradient: 15%
Appellation origin: it comes from the particular shape of the vineyard with downgrading steps along the hill slope

CRU “I CANTONI”

Wine appellation: Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore
Surface: 1.5 ha
Farming system: guyoy
Hectare plant density: 5000 p/ha
Soil: tuffaceous and volcanic
Hectare production: 9,000 kg/ha
Exposition: South-East
Gradient: 10%
Appellation origin: it comes from the amphitheatre shape vineyard made of downgrading steps inserted at 90° to one another.

This is an excellent example of low impact environment engineering

CRU “LE NOVAIE”

Wine appellation: Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG Classico
Surface: 1.5 ha
Farming system: pergola
Hectare plant density: 3500 p/ha
Soil: medium blend
Hectare production: 10,000 kg/ha
Exposition: South
Gradient: 10%
Appellation origin: it has been lost in time but presumably it was born simply from the vicinity with the Novaia road
